who pays for what in a wedding?

Hi all I need some help here, i am going to be my best friends maid of honer in her wedding in march but also my daughter and son are in the wedding as-well and my husband might also be a groomsman. what i need to know is, is it right that i have to pay for for everything for all three of us to be in this wedding? i believe i have to pay for my dress and shoes which is fine but also daughter dress and shoes sons suit and shoes and also Hair and makeup as-well plus pay for hens night ETC is it wrong of me to ask the bride to help out a little bit.

i know i should be very happy that she would like my children in her wedding but we are on one income at the moment as i am on maternity leave. we have worked it out to come to about $1000 for us 3 to be in this wedding not including present for the happy couple or my hubby being in it. so i ask is this too much and should i ask her to help out cause i know we can not afford this

I would suggest that you decline participating in her bridal party if you can not pay the $1,000. Just let her know that you would rather attend as a guest.
