After you have set the baby shower date, the next thing to decide on is the baby shower guest list. First of all, it is very important to talk to the mother-to-be about her preferences on who to invite.

- coed or not? Sometimes men are dragged along to a baby shower, but as a general rule they are for women. However, if it is a couples shower, the father will want to have men there for moral support.
- ladies who have just lost a child? Definitely invite them. You may think that it would be cruel to invite them and you are right in wanting to consider their feelings. However, you do not want to hurt their feelings further by leaving them out. Call them or consider hand delivering them their invitation. Let them know that while you would love for them to come, you also understand if they choose to decline.
Double check her list and suggest anyone she might have left out. It would be terrible to leave someone out like a special friend or relative.
Do give the mother-to-be a date that you will need the names and addresses by so that you will have plenty of time to get the invitations written and mailed out. A good time frame to mail them would be 4-6 weeks before the party date. This will give guests enough time to plan.
