Baby shower Noah and the Ark Theme?
We are throwing it this Friday… We want to do a blue punch drink for water and “animal theme” foods. So far all I can think of is blue kool-aid and pigs n’ a blanket and ants on a log… I need help. Please send ideas and recipies… I would greatly appreciate it! oh and also if you have any good game ideas!

Well first of all- what a great idea for a theme! That’s very clever and the subject matter should provide you with lots of room to play.
I prefer to serve elegant food that fits the theme without sacrificing taste and a clever use of cookie cutters can help you do just that. If you don’t have a great selection of cookie cutters available to you in your hometown, I found an adorable set at CopperGifts.com:

The first thing I would suggest is chicken salad sandwiches cutout in the shape of a chicken. These can be embellished with mustard and mayo for color or just left plain. When cutout, the sandwiches will be small which is ideal for a shower. Running on that theme- you can also use a different type and color of bread like a marble or rye and serve an egg salad or roast beef.
Another fun food is pita sandwiches. You can serve whole grain pita rounds cut in half (which look a little like the Ark) with lunch meat, cheese slices, lettuce & tomato. Use some more cookie cutters to cut the meat, cheese & lettuce to look like different animals. Ham could be the shape of a pig, turkey will be shaped like a turkey and so on. If displayed properly, this can be a fun and affordable option.
I also found a recipe online that displays a creamy potato soup with two wonton crackers shaped like animals. Once baked and seasoned, the wontons will make perfect animal shaped breadsticks. Read here for details:

A fruit selection is always appropriate for a baby shower and this too can be customized with cookie cutters. Cutout cantaloupe, melon and watermelon to look like animals. Place them on skewers like kabobs to make it easy for your guests to eat. If you’re really feeling adventurous- you can cut a half of a watermelon rind to look a little like the Ark.
For desert, I suggest make some “William Sonoma backyard bugs” cakes. The pan features four pairs of flying friends – bees, butterflies, ladybugs and dragonflies and turns out eight little cakes. Bake two sets for your “two by two” theme. Once decorated with icing, they are adorable and certainly fit the theme.
You might also serve a dish with animal crackers as one of your hors d’oervres. I would try using them in a fun new way like filling flaky pastry cups with chocolate pudding and standing the crackers up inside.
