Baby Shower Advice For Mom

Exciting Baby Shower Invitations And Trends
The days of boring baby showers and silly games are over. Savvy Moms and friends are planning fun showers with stylish baby shower invitations, fun themes and guests actually having a great time. Take a peek at some fun trends in baby showers for the next time you’re planning or hosting a shower.
Â
Include both parents
Couples showers are growing ever-more popular. Since both parents are going to be involved in the child’s life, it only seems appropriate to celebrate Moms and Dads. Just make sure you have games and activities that will appeal to everyone. There are many activities beyond your typical baby shower games that will appeal to both parents. Since you’re celebrating the family, skip the baby themed invitation and choose a more stylish baby shower. Make both parents feel special with a couples shower in their – and the new baby’s – honor.Â
Â
While you’re including both parents, invite the kids too.
Since a shower is meant to celebrate kids and parents, more and more shower hosts are inviting kids along too. Make your next shower a family affair with family-themed baby shower invitations, games, food and décor. Kids love to be included – have them come up with baby names and give prizes for the wackiest name or the best rhyming name. Have some back up games or toys handy, too. Kids may need some extra entertainment so make sure you’re prepared with extra activities or maybe even a video. You might want to consider hiring an extra helping hand or two – some local baby sitters will do – if you think kids might outnumber adults.Â
Â
Spa party
Skip the traditional party and games in and spoil Mom-to-be and guests with a spa day. Send your baby shower invitation to anyone who wishes to celebrate not only a baby on the way, but a relaxing day of massage, manicures, pedicures and facials. Many services can be performed in your home. If that is not an option, host your shower at the spa. Nothing will make Mom feel better than a little ‘babying’ treatment just for her. A surprise spa party might not be such a good idea. Depending on her stage of pregnancy, Mom might be a little sensitive to certain treatments. Find out in advance if this is the right way to go.
Â
Update and upgrade your games
Most traditional baby shower games are a little dull for today’s crowd. Skip those games and come up with some new ones. Everyone always has advice for the new mom and dad-to-be, so why not make a trivia game out of it. Get everyone involved, give away little prizes and you just might learn something, too. When sending out baby shower invitations ask guests to RSVP with some bits of baby and parenting knowledge to include in your trivia challenge. Or how about a baby pool? Sell squares like a football pool but based on baby’s due date
There are lots of great ideas to turn your so-so shower into a unique and memorable event. Focus on the likes of the parents-to-be and you’ll have a great party in no time.

First grand baby…..Third baby shower??
My daughter is expecting in about one month. She has had two baby showers already-one from her mom-in-law and the second from her work. She has just about everything she needs for the baby. In fact she has two car seats, two strollers, two types of swings, crib, changing table, dresser, hugh assortment of clothes, lots of diapers, you name it-she has it! I have been planning a shower for her but I am stumped if I should do a diaper theme or somthing else. I am very excited for my first grandchild…her name will be Stevie…and very happy for my daughter that she has received so many items for the baby’s layette. Please help give a new grandmom-to-be some good advice for a wonderful baby shower.
I heard of someone once that had a diaper and casserole party. Everyone brought a package of diapers and a casserole or meal that could be frozen and reheated easily. The girl was in the same situation as your daughter, she had everything she needed. But you can never have too many diapers (and not just newborn sizes, ask for a variety) and when the baby comes, not having to cook dinner will be a huge help to her. I swear they had dinner for a whole month!! And the casserole could even be the Stouffer’s frozen lasagna. Everything helps.
