im due july with my second and unsure what types of outfits to buy her as the weather is so unpredictable in England.

will you get a thin coat/thick cardigan or seperate winter/summer outerwear ‘just in case’?
will you buy the footless and short armed babygrows, rompers i think theyre called, rather than normal babygrows with the feet attached?

i still have my daughters old baby clothes but she was a winter baby so i can only really reuse babygrows and vests, dont have any experience of a summer baby so sorry if isound clueless! thanks
several thin layers are better than one thick layer
re-use the vests and sleep suits – unless they are made of fleece or a thicker material obviously.i bought my son so many rompers for summer.they look really cute in them,especially when they’ve found their feet and are rolling around!rompers are perfect for all day wear in the summer,if its very hot when a sleep suit with feet may be too warm.add socks as their feet get cold.use a blanket (or get a buggy hugger,which is available from mothercare),a folded blanket counts as 2 layers remember.you can buy special sun hats that are 40+ SPF,and i also recommend the use of either a parasol with SPF (you’ll have to look carefully) or get a shade-a-babe (i used one with my son,absolutely fantastic and well worth the money) although it is better to keep young babies out of the sun anyway
have a few cotton dresses to wear for pictures – sleep suits and the like are the easiest outfits for the first 6 months anyway.cotton is your best friend,so check the labels.my favourite place for children’s clothes is boots – their mini-mode range is fantastic,great value for money and the clothes are sooo cute!boots also test each item to destruction before it is made and sold – they wash and tumble dry well,don’t lose their colour and keep their general shape and size very well.i also like asda for clothes too
as for what to buy in each size,skip newborn and go for 0-3 – then simply buy a minimum of 12 sleep suits and vests in each size ( a checklist will say 6,i found 12 was better).i found it was easier to buy clothes as and when according to season (my son was a large baby so i couldn’t use the summer stuff that i bought in 6-9 as he was in that size at 5 months old,this was february and by summer he was in 9-12).buy as many pairs of socks as you can,same for bibs.buy some thick cardigans and a couple of very thin coats to put on if you go out at night
