Celtic Rosary: The Perfect Gift For Christenings

Christenings are the perfect occasions to give religious items such as a Celtic rosary. This is because it is an event that starts the Catholic upbringing of a child and saying the rosary is one of the most well-known Catholic practices. Among the most appropriate rosaries that anyone can give babies during their christening are the baptismal and the birthstone rosaries. The baptismal rosaries more often than not come with their own keepsake boxes while the birthstone rosaries are those that are made using the birthstone of the child that you intend to give a Celtic rosary to.

Shamrock Celtic Rosary Bracelets for Babies

There are many designs and materials that come with Irish rosaries. The most common of these are those that have the traditional shamrock design imprinted on its beads. As such, one of the most beautiful Irish rosaries that you can give as a christening gift is a Shamrock Rosary Bracelet that is made from green ceramic stones. This penal rosary, which can be used for one decade of the rosary, can be worn around the wrist just like a bracelet.

Going for the More Precious Celtic Rosary Designs

However, if you are one of the doting godparents of a newborn child and you want to give your godchild something more precious that will surely last a lifetime, then it would be best to give a Celtic rosary made of mother of pearl beads and which comes with a Celtic Waterford cross and Madonna medal. Aside from being quite precious because of the materials used in making this kind of Irish rosary, the meaning of the knotwork of the Celtic cross is also known to symbolize everlasting life.

Connemara Marble

Aside from ceramic stones or mother of pearls, Connemara marble is also among the most favored materials used for making the beads of Irish rosaries. This type of marble is quarried from the Connemara hills found in Ireland. Silver is also commonly used for the chain that connects these beads and for the cross. As such, if you ever give a Celtic rosary for a gift, you can expect that this will last for a very long time and can even be handed down from generation to generation, especially if it is handled with special care.

What do you think of the name Cora?

I like the name Cora, but it’s kind of odd and I was thinking of some other Greek (her mother is Greek) Cor name. Which of these do you prefer?: http://www.weddingvendors.com/baby-names/search/?keywords=&gender=F&origin=greek&sw=Cor&ew=
I really like Coralina, but I’m open. Both Cora and Coralina have perfect meanings for my auburn-haired, loving, fireball-type character (who is a hundred-some years old, by the way). Her middle name is Adeen (Irish “little fire”) and her last name is Aldridge (a British last name due to her father), but it will be Miller later on.
So, what do you think?
There is NO way I am using Cortani. That’s just a stupid way to make a common British name modern (she’s a hundred years old– I can’t do that).
It has to be an older, classic European-type name. I’d prefer it to be Greek.
This is not for my child; this is for an immortal book character who is older than me.

My favorite is Corinna Adeen Aldridge (or Corinna Adeen Miller). I pronounce the name kor-INN-uh, not kor-EEN-uh. My second favorite is Cora Adeen Aldridge.

Coralina Adeen feels like a bit much, but it’s still pretty.
