1. Combine your names

Every child is unique so why not give your baby a unique name by combining your name with the father’s name, or with any friend or family’s name. Simply write out the names you choose and start by combining letters until you have created he perfect and unique name for your new baby!

2. Use your family

Ask Great Aunt Marie how she came up with her sons name. There may be a religious reason or a family reason that you were not aware of. It’s great to carry on traditions in the family.

3. Start your own name tradition

Want to start a new family name tradition it is real simple. Take the first letter of the parents first and middle name. Each child is then names that way. For example if the father is named Jack Thomas Leonna, then you may if it’s a boy name, your child John Timothy Leonna, or if it is a girl perhaps Jaquian Theresa Leonna. Each child when they are grown and have their own children will then do the same. Then everyone has initials that are always J.T.L.

4. Read all kinds of books

If you are an avid read maybe you have come across a unique name that you loved in a book you read. Read everything from baby name books, to fiction or nonfiction you never know where you will find that perfect name.

5. Jump online

Want to give your baby a name with a meaning? Go online and search for the meaning of the name that you have chosen. Once in a while a name can have two meanings when you are searching but it doesn’t mean it’s a made up meaning, remember names are unique and there is an origin from where they came. Do a little research and you may find the perfect meaning and the name will then be the right choice for your baby.

6. Go to your local library

Go to your library and take out a book that has baby names. There are many to choose from and often have thousands of names in them.

Search 100s of irish baby names all at FindMyBabyName.
