A New Research Shows That The Human May Be Born With A Dance Talent
This research was carried out by psychologist Marcel Turner from the University of York and Tuomas Ellora from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland. They selected 120 infants who were all 5 months to 2-year-old and play classical music, rhythm beat and speeches fragment for them while filming their reactions. The researchers also employ professional ballerina to analyse baby’s dance movement, contrast and music fit. During test, the babies sit on their parents lap. Parents put on headphones with the purpose not to hear music and were asked them not to move. The researchers found that baby wave their arms, hands, legs, feet, torso and head from time to time. When listening to music, the babies’ body language is much more abundant than listening to a fragment of a lecture.
Based on this study, the researchers conclude that the human may be born with a dancing talent, which will follow the music rhythm to dance. Turner’s words were quoted by Fun science web site, which had reported that our research showed infants and young children react intensely to the rhythm than melody and other musical characteristics. We also found that the more the children’s dance and music are in tune, the more smile on their face. Although the exact cause is still unclear, dance seems to be innate. Turner said:”Why do humans have such a special talent? This is needed to be analyzed.” In his view, this may be the result of natural selection or some feature of human evolution evolved.
Humans not only have dance talent, the U.S. researchers in 2008 found that infants can distinguish cheerful tunes or sad. Researchers from Brigham Young University show a no poker face to a 5-month-old baby while playing tunes and sad music. When the baby paid attention to the music from the face, the researchers stopped and changed other music. The study found that when Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony “Ode to Joy” rang, baby looked at the faces 3-4 seconds longer than any other tune, which indicated baby has the awareness of the music tone to change. 9-month-old infants can identify pathetique melody of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony from a group of music.”One of the first things baby can understand is emotions, for them, the melody is the information,” he said, “Our research shows that a 9-month infant has the ability to distinguish grief songs and joyful songs like pre-school children or even adults.
